The origins of this dish are often debated, but France takes credit for this delicious pastry dessert. More commonly, Galettes are made savory and highly seasoned. Inside of the pancake-crepe like dough is cheese and other savory ingredients.

Equipment

  • 2 Large Bowls
  • 2 Whisks
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Blender/Food Processor
  • Parchment Paper
  • Refrigerator
  • Oven for Baking
  • Baking Sheet
  • Large Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of All Purpose Flour. I also recommend setting aside at least another bowl full of flour for the dough. When you start to rough the dough you may notice that it is sticky and does not stay still.
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 Cups of Whole Milk
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 Cup of Whole Grain Flour. I like to use another type of flour so that the dough gets a unique golden color. If you are someone who likes texture you can even use almond flour.
  • 3/4 Cup of Butter. With this butter make sure that it is at room temperature. Not only should it be room temperature, but it is best if the butter is cut into smaller chunks.
  • 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar filling
  • 5-8 Peaches peeled and cut filling. It is up to you how many peaches you would like for the filling. Some people prefer to blend the peaches or use them out of the can. Personally, I think freshly cut peaches are best for this Peach Galette Ina Garten Recipe.
  • 2 tsp. of white flour filling

Instructions

  • The first step is to blend all of the ingredients together to make though dough. Although you can whisk with your hand and massage the dough,  it is quicker to use a blender. Make sure to add the flour in slowly as this will help with the stickiness.
  • As the dough forms, it is time to pre-heat the oven and prepare the pan you will be using to bake the Peach Galette Ina Garten. Pre-heat the oven to 365 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Prepare the filling by blending sugar and flour. Afterwards, add two peaches to the mixture. Blend until smooth and skin the rest of the peaches so that you can cut them into wedges.
  • Roll out and flatten the dough quickly. Do so when the dough is cold, not room temperature or warm. As you pull the dough apart and roll it, place the dough into the pan to hold the shape. After the shape is held, add the filling by carefully placing the peaches for decoration and to toast.
  • Sprinkle with sugar and fold in the sides.
  • Bake the peach galette Ina Garten for a minimum of 50 minutes. Although time does help, it is better to look at the color of the crust. Cool for at least an hour and serve.

Notes

  • There are a few golden tips and tricks to use for making this Peach Galette Ina Garten Recipe. I like to start by making the galette as quickly as possible. The problem with this delicious dessert is the crust can start to get soggy very quickly.
  • You can make this dish a day in advance, but you should ensure that the dish is covered by plastic wrap. This way, there is a lack of water that gets in and causes the sogginess. I also like to leave the dough overnight in the fridge. To do this, wrap the dough in plastic saran wrap. It should be tight enough to mold into the shape of a ball.
  • If you want to add a bit more spice into this delicious Peach Galette Ina Garten Recipe, I also recommend adding hints of cinnamon into the filling and on top.
