To make the crust, mix flour, sugar, and salt together. Add shortening and use your fingers to work it into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and keep mixing until the dough forms. Place it into your pie pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees, for 15 minutes or until golden. Cool completely.
Peel and core the apples. Slice them into wedges and put them into a pie pan - a 9 inch would do.
Mix the sugar, flour, spices, and butter in a bowl. Add this mixture to the apples and toss them together. Pour the apple mixture into the pie shell and cover with Streusel topping. Bake for at least 45 minutes or until the filling becomes bubbly.
Streusel topping can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator. It makes a great topping for bread, cookies, and cakes!
