Tiramisu With Marsala Wine

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup marsala wine
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sweet marsala wine (such as vin santo)
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder, plus more for dusting tiramisu cake
  • ladyfingers

Instructions

  • Combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of marsala wine in a bowl, mix well until all the sugar dissolves. Add this to one small container and transfer half of it to another container by covering the container with plastic wrap. This will be used later as tiramisu syrup.
  • Using an electric mixer, beat the marsala wine and 4 tablespoons of sugar together until it is dissolved completely. Add mascarpone cheese to this mixture and continue beating until creamy and fluffy.
  • Combine cocoa powder with sweet marsala wine in a small bowl and set aside for 5 minutes to dissolve well. Add this mix to the mascarpone mixture along with a half (1/4 cup) of tiramisu cream made earlier at step one which we kept aside for tiramisu cake decoration purposes only. Fold gently until smooth and no streaks remain visible.
  • Fill tiramisu pan or any round or square glass with ladyfingers one by one, dipping each layer of tiramisu cake in tiramisu syrup.
  • Continue to fill the tiramisu pan up to 3/4th with tiramisu cream.
  • Now cover tiramisu-filled glass or tiramisu pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight so that the tiramisu absorbs all flavors thoroughly. Before serving dust cocoa powder on top of tiramisu cake. Serve chilled after a sumptuous dinner - What a great way to end the evening!
