Authentic Tiramisu Recipe Mario Batali

Dessert Recipes
Tiramisu is a unique dish often served as a dessert or 'pick-me-upper' in Italy! This dish has become so popular in the U.S though that the dish, or a version of it, is served in many Italian restaurants! The history of this local treasure is short, compared to the other dishes we discuss on this blog.

Equipment

  • 3 Bowls
  • Whisk
  • Mixing Spoon
  • Container

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
  • 2 Cups of Cold Espresso
  • 1 Cup of Espresso Liquor. Please keep in mind that you can omit this ingredient! Not all tiramisu recipes use alcohol!
  • 2 tbsp of espresso/cocoa powder
  • 1 container of mascarpone cheese 8-12oz
  • 20 Lady Fingers

Instructions

  • During the first step in this authentic tiramisu recipe Mario Batali, I recommend preparing your station, ingredients and equipment. Measure out the ingredients and place them to the side.
  • When preparing the filling in this authentic Tiramisu recipe Mario Batali, it is important to place the ingredients in a separate bowl. Get one high enough that it does not spill while you whisk the ingredients. It can be expensive to make this dish, so lets try and make the ingredients last!
  • Mix the whipping cream, mascarpone cheese, and sugar together. You can use a whisk, but if you are struggling, a fork can help a lot!
  • Although this does not need its own step, I like to add it! In another bowl, combine the espresso and the coffee or espresso liquor of your choosing. Mix together. This is the mixture you will use to flavor the lady fingers!
  • During the fourth step in this authentic tiramisu recipe Mario Batali, you will need to lightly dip the lady fingers in the espresso and liquor mix. Don't drop them in and leave them soaking though! You still warn the firm consistency, except now with an espresso flavor.
  • After all the separate ingredients are together, you can start putting in all together. In your preferred dish, layer the lady fingers. Then, add a layer of the cream mixture and add splashes of espresso! Continue to repeat these two steps a minimum of three times.
  • Although I like to keep the layers as light and short as possible, this does not mean you can't make the tiramisu dessert higher! As soon as the layering is done, sprinkle the cocoa espresso powder on top for decoration and extra flavor. Place in the fridge immediately and serve cool.

Notes

  • This easy authentic tiramisu recipe by Mario Batali does not take much time or effort, making it a personal favorite! It is often referred to as a 'fancy' and delightful dessert, and most people don't know you only need about 10 minutes and a few key ingredients!
  • The first tip I have for you is to use the espresso and liquor mix in the cream! If you are someone who loves the flavors of coffee and espresso and want more of this while eating a tiramisu, it would be good to add more to the layers. You can do this by whisking in about 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture into the creams. Whisk really well.
  • Also, just because most Tiramisu dishes are cut into thicker square pieces, does not mean yours needs to be! I recommend making them into small plastic cups if you are having a large gathering, this way, there is plenty to go around! You can even add some chocolate straws and strings to add a touch of elegance.
